A wonderful print showing the town of Konigstein in Saxony, Germany. An encampment on the outskirts the town of french soldiers during the occupation during the French Napoleonic wars. The fortress towering bove the River Elbe in the background.

Steel engraving was a technique for printing illustrations developed during the 1800's. The steel engraving process allowed for much finer detail in the finished print.
It is printed on good quality paper which is blank on the reverse. The print bears the indent markings on the borders which is a feature from the steel engraving printing of prints of this period.
The overall print including borders measures 265 x 180 mm (10.5 x 7 inches) approximately.
There is a little age yellowing which is a feature of items of great age and there may be some scattered but light, brown spotting ( foxing ). This print inevitably would have been originally bound in a book at some time - please check the larger picture for condition, anything more than minor will be mentioned in the main body of the description.
This item will be shipped flat in a board backed envelope.
