An islamic festival. People following a procession, an elephant at the head. Info. Muharram (Arabic: ???????) is the first month of the Islamic calendar.
Provenance - Published: London and Paris by Fisher Son and Co. 1845circa.
Steel engraving was a technique for printing illustrations developed during the 1800's. The steel engraving process allowed for much finer detail in the finished print.
It is printed on very good quality paper which is blank on the reverse.
The overall print including borders measures 270 x 205 mm (10.5 x 8 inches) approximately.
There is some age yellowing which is a feature of items of great age- please check the larger picture for condition. This print inevitably would have been originally bound in a book at some time.
This item will be shipped flat in a board backed envelope.
