WANT TO KNOW WHAT IT IS REALLY LIKE IN BULGARIA AWAY FROM THE TOURISTS BUT CAN'T FIND AND BOOKS TO READ UP ABOUT IT?
This book was originally started as a series of blogs written in conjunction with my job where finding out information about Bulgaria and telling other English speaking people about it through the internet.
After just a few months there was interest from publishers who suggested that the material should be compiled into a book form from the point of interesting reading and a market out there demanding it. The work contain just over 30,000 words and many months of work at the end of the day on Bulgarian wages but I couldn't afford to pay the fees for publication.
So my aim is to offer pre-published copies of the e-book to get funds to get the book published eventually.
The title of the e-book is called 'Bulgarian Slivatree' it seemed apt for the reasons given.
The sliva tree is one of nature’s gifts that has been given to Bulgarian and from this the famous rakia spirit is made. The sliva trees's roots are firmly based and fed from Bulgarian lands bearing fruit year in year out. In the same way these extracts are the fruits of my own roots now firmly based in Bulgarian lands.
The Bulgarian ways have now been told in this catalogue of tales coming from a foreigner within the community there. The potential market for this book is already a well established and popular area in favoured British expatriate European countries such as France, Spain and Cyprus.
Bulgaria being one of the least know in countries Europe with the books published about the people and the way of life from both town and country is scarce.
Most if not all material in travel books cover well trodden tourist resorts and tend to ignore lesser know parts where real Bulgarians and Bulgarian life exsits.
This is probabably the book's strongest attribute coming from areas where tourism and western materiaistic ideals are yet to affect Bulgarian daily life. Bulgaria is a booming with foreign investment from business, retirees, holiday makers and not least many young families seeking a new life there and this may well be where interest in this book will come from.
People who just have a curiousity about the newest member of the European Community there is bound to be a deep rooted interest into infomation about Bulgaria and this ebook gives it.
The writing contain a variety of prose ranging from an epitaph of a simple Bulgarian village farmer to a Bulgarian national recipe with a local twist - from articles giving humourous moments and more serious issues that have to be contended with for Bulgarians.
One thing that comes through is the increasing poverty for Bulgarians and how they cope with that which is something that many foreigners overlook, even more so now within Europe. With my sympathetic view of this from living within the heart of the community this is the ideal place to write about it first hand.
