the village of Jarrow, giving its name to a populous and extensive parish, is pleasantly situated on the south side of the Tyne at the point where the River expands, and forms the slake of Jarrow, 6 miles east from Newcastle. This place was anciently called gyrvii the Saxon name from Marsh or fen
for some time prior to the evacuation of Britain by the Romans, Jarrow has been a place of considerable importance until the dissolution of its celebrated monastery which is pictured here.
The Print measures overall approximately 205 x 135 mm (8 x 5.25 inches ). There is some age yellowing possibly with some spotting - please check the larger picture for condition.

This item will be shipped flat in a board backed envelope, and protected inside that envelope by a plastic sleeve
