CQout - Frequently Asked Questions - How do I know I will get the maximum value for the items I sell?

Any item has two values: the price that a seller thinks that the item should fetch, and the price that a buyer is willing to pay. The beauty of an Online Auction is that the seller can set a minimum price (the 'reserve') below which the item will not be sold. Buyers are then in competition for that item, even though the seller has already established, by setting a reserve, that the item will not sell for below that minimum price. Contrast that with placing an ad. in a magazine, newspaper, shop or library, or even a car boot sale, where the seller has to name an asking price, only to be bargained down by the potential buyer to less than the original asking price.

To minimize grounds for complaint, CQout recommends that:

  • Goods are dispatched by a reputable company that can track and confirm delivery , and are insured in transit
  • Buyers use the SecurePay service if unsure of the reputation of the seller, or for goods with a high value
  • Buyers use our guidelines for Completing a safe transaction
